Amparo Defense Law

Fees

Clear fees, written down before we start.

Honorarios claros, por escrito antes de empezar.

Families facing removal are often asked for money by people who promise everything. We do the opposite: a free first evaluation, honest ranges published here, and a written fee for each stage.

How our fees work

The first talk is free

30 minutes with a lawyer, by phone, video or in person. You leave knowing your options, even if you do not hire us.

A flat fee for each stage

Bond, master calendar, individual hearing, appeal. Each stage has its own written fee, so you are never paying for a whole case you may not need.

Payment plans are normal

Most clients pay over time. A first payment starts the work, and the rest is spread over months.

Typical fee ranges

Ranges reflect how much work a case usually needs. Your exact fee depends on your facts and is quoted in writing after the free evaluation.

Example payment plan

A bond hearing quoted at $3,000

  1. To start the work $1,000
  2. Month 1 $500
  3. Month 2 $500
  4. Month 3 $500
  5. Month 4 $500

An illustration of how a plan can look. Your plan is agreed with you, in writing.

Not included in our fee

  • The bond itself, paid directly to the government
  • Government filing fees, where they apply
  • Expert evaluations and certified translations, billed at cost and only with your OK
  • Federal court cases, quoted separately in writing

No one can sell you a result. If anyone asks for money in exchange for a promised release, a promised visa or a "special connection," walk away and call us.

Free case evaluation

Find out your options before you pay anyone.

The first 30-minute case evaluation is free, by phone, video or in person, in English or Spanish.

Urgent

Someone detained, or a court date soon?

(704) 555-0119

Answered 24 hours a day, in English and Spanish.

We are lawyers, not notarios

We are lawyers, not notarios. In the United States a notary public cannot give legal advice or file your immigration case. At Amparo, every case is handled by a licensed attorney.

Somos abogados, no notarios. Ask anyone who offers to help with your case for their bar number, and check it with the state bar.
