About the firmNo. 01
Small on purpose, exact by habit.
Corliss Wren is a Dallas family law boutique for divorces and marital agreements where the estate has moving parts. We keep the firm small so that the attorney you meet is the attorney who does the work.
Our story No. 02
Built around the numbers.
Margaret Corliss spent her first decade of practice at a large litigation firm, watching high-asset divorces drift for months because nobody had built a proper inventory. When she opened her own firm in 2009, she started with the spreadsheet, not the pleading.
That habit shaped everything that followed: a partner who trained as an auditor, an in-house analyst, and a practice limited to Texas family law for families whose estates include companies, equity compensation, trusts and property in more than one place. We represent business owners and executives, and we represent their spouses. We never represent both people in one family.
Most of our matters settle, through negotiation, mediation or a collaborative process. Some go to court, and we are prepared for those from the first day. Either way, we tell clients early what the evidence is likely to support, even when that is not what they hoped to hear.
How we work No. 03
Three commitments, in every matter.
-
01
Discretion by default
Your file is opened under a matter code, not your name. Calendars, invoices and emails are written so that nothing about your case is visible to anyone who should not see it.
-
02
Precision before argument
We build the financial picture first: every account, entity, grant and debt, with documents. Arguments come after the numbers, not instead of them.
-
03
Proportion in every bill
Experts, depositions and hearings cost real money. We recommend them when they are likely to change the result by more than they cost, and we tell you when they are not.
Since 2009 No. 04
A short history.
- 2009 Margaret Corliss opens the firm with one associate and a rule: no matter is taken on unless the financial picture can be built properly.
- 2014 Adrian Wren joins as a partner, bringing six years of audit work before law school. Business valuation and tracing become a core of the practice.
- 2016 Lena Marsh joins as an in-house financial analyst, so inventories and budgets are built in the firm, not outsourced.
- 2019 Nadia Farouk completes collaborative law training and leads the firm's prenuptial and partition agreement work.
- Today Four attorneys and a small staff, still limited to Texas family law for estates with moving parts.
