Visiting

What are your hours right now?

Fall hours run through Sunday, November 1: Monday to Saturday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Sunday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thanksgiving Monday, October 12, we're open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The contact page lists every season through spring 2027.

Are you open in winter?

Yes, in a smaller way. After the winter break (December 24 to January 4) Greenhouse 3 is open Thursday to Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., for houseplants, the repotting bench and the design desk.

Is the store accessible?

The main paths, greenhouses and potting barn are step-free. The nursery yard is packed gravel; we have two all-terrain carts to borrow and staff can bring plants to you.

Can I bring my dog?

Leashed, friendly dogs are welcome in the outdoor yard. Only service animals in the greenhouses, mostly for the sake of the plants and the resident cat.

Ordering, pickup and delivery

Can I order ahead for curbside pickup?

Yes. Use the order form or call. We pull the order, call you to confirm the total, and load it into your car when you arrive. You pay at pickup.

How much is delivery?

Example prices: $65 in Peterborough, $95 within about 20 km, $135 for 20 to 40 km. Your confirmation shows the firm price before we load the truck.

When does bulk delivery end for the year?

Saturday, November 14, 2026, weather permitting. It starts again in April 2027. Bagged mulch and soil are sold all winter.

Do you sell gift cards?

Yes, in any amount from $25, in store, by phone or on the order form. They never expire.

Plants and advice

What hardiness zone is Peterborough?

Roughly Canadian zone 5a to 5b. Your yard can differ by half a zone, so ask our staff about borderline plants before you buy.

Is fall a good time to plant?

For trees, shrubs, most perennials, garlic and spring bulbs, yes. Water new plants until the ground freezes. Ask our staff about anything planted after mid-October.

Can you identify a plant or a problem from a photo?

Often, yes. Email a clear photo of the whole plant and a close-up of the problem to hello@loamwood.example, or bring a sample in a sealed bag.

Do you price match the big-box stores?

Not as a policy. On identical bagged products we try to stay close, and on plants we'd rather compete on size, health and the guarantee.

The guarantee

What does the plant guarantee cover?

Trees, shrubs and perennials for one year from purchase when planted in the ground at your home, two years if our crew planted them, and houseplants for 30 days. Annuals, bulbs, seeds and vegetables aren't covered.

What voids the guarantee?

Leaving the plant in its pot, overwintering it in a container, animal damage, drought or flooding, salt, mower damage, and moving it after a season in the ground. The full list is on the guarantee page.

Do I get my money back?

You get the same plant again or store credit for what you paid. We don't give cash refunds on plants, and each plant is replaced once.
