What you'll find
How it works
Our bulk yard sells cedar and hardwood mulch, triple mix, raised-bed mix and leaf compost by the cubic yard. We deliver with a single-axle dump truck around Peterborough and the nearby towns, or load your truck or trailer with the loader. Bagged mulch and soil are sold all year at curbside.

01
Mulch
Shredded cedar (lighter, slower to break down) and dark hardwood mulch with no added dye. About 2 to 3 inches deep on beds; keep it off tree trunks.
-
02
Soil
Triple mix (topsoil, peat and compost) for beds and lawns, and a lighter raised-bed mix for vegetable boxes and planters.
-
03
Compost
Screened leaf compost to top-dress beds in fall. Spread an inch and let the worms do the rest.
-
04
Bagged at curbside
Bags of mulch, potting mix and soil loaded into your car by our yard crew. Order ahead or just pull up.

Ask our staff
Good to know before you buy.
-
Mulch around trees (general advice)
Keep mulch a hand-width away from trunks and stems. Piled up against the bark it holds moisture and invites rot and voles. Ask our staff how deep to go on your beds.
-
Where the pile goes
Tell us where you want it and put a tarp down if you like. The truck needs about 3 m of width and firm ground. We don't drive on lawns or over septic beds.
-
How much do you need?
Length times width (in feet) times depth (in inches), divided by 324, is cubic yards. Or use the calculator on this page and round up a little.
