Ask our staff

Good to know before you buy.

  • Bringing a plant home in winter

Most houseplants don't like anything under about 5°C, even for a few minutes. From November to March we wrap every plant in a paper sleeve. Warm the car first and take it straight home.

  • Light first, then water

Most houseplant trouble starts with too little light and too much water. Tell us which way your window faces and we'll point you to plants that suit it. Ask our staff before you repot a struggling plant.

  • Houseplant clinic

Bring a sick plant to the free houseplant clinic on Sunday, October 18, 1 to 3 p.m. No appointment needed.

Hardiness zones: Most of the Peterborough area sits around Canadian hardiness zone 5a to 5b. Low spots, open fields and lakeside lots can run a half zone colder or warmer, so ask our staff about your street before you buy something borderline.
