The plant guarantee

If it dies when it shouldn't have, bring it back.

Trees, shrubs and perennials are covered for one year from the day you buy them. Planted by our crew, two years. Houseplants, 30 days. Here is exactly what that means.

What's covered, and for how long

Four lines, no fine print.

  • Trees and shrubs

    1 year from purchase

Planted in the ground at your home, in the season you bought it.

  • Trees and shrubs planted by our crew

    2 years from planting

Our crew dug the hole, so we cover it twice as long.

  • Perennials

    1 year from purchase

Planted in the ground. Come back next spring if it didn't.

  • Houseplants

    30 days from purchase

Bring it in, even half-alive. Most of the time we can tell you why.

Not covered

Things a guarantee can't fix.

  • Annuals, vegetables, herbs, bulbs and seeds (bring them in anyway and we will help you work out what happened)
  • Plants kept in pots or planters over winter, since roots in a pot freeze much harder than roots in the ground
  • Damage from deer, rabbits, voles or pets
  • Drought, flooding, road salt, or a plant planted under a downspout
  • Mower, string-trimmer or snow-plow damage
  • Plants from the as-is clearance table and cut Christmas trees

What voids it

And the few ways to lose it.

  • Leaving the plant in its nursery pot
  • Planting a shade plant in full sun (or the reverse) after our staff flagged it on your receipt
  • Moving the plant after it has been planted for a season
  • Losing the receipt and not having the purchase on your Loamwood account (we can look it up by phone number)

Not sure if a spot suits a plant? Ask before you buy. If our staff flag a concern, we note it on your receipt so there's no argument later, either way.

How to claim

Bring it back. We'll sort it out.

  1. 1

Bring the plant back, roots and all. For a tree too big to dig, bring the tag and two photos (the whole plant and the base of the trunk).

  2. 2

Bring the receipt, or give us the phone number on your Loamwood account so we can look it up.

  3. 3

Choose a replacement of the same plant, or store credit for the price you paid. We don't give cash refunds on plants.

  4. 4

One replacement per plant. The replacement is not guaranteed a second time, but we will plant it with you if you like.

Loamwood Garden Centre

Plant it right the first time.

Our crew can plant trees and shrubs for you, and those plants are covered for two years instead of one. Example prices on the trees and shrubs page.
