Questions, answered plainly

The things people ask before they buy a sofa they've never sat on. If yours isn't here, a person in the studio will answer it, usually the same day.

Ordering and lead times

Why does my piece take weeks to arrive?

We don't keep a warehouse of finished furniture. Each piece is built when you order it, so the wood is fresh from the shop and nothing sits in storage. Every product page shows its own lead time next to the price: smaller parcel pieces take 1 to 4 weeks, larger freight pieces take 4 to 8.

Can I change or cancel my order?

Yes, at no cost within 7 days of ordering. After that your frame may already be cut and your cover sewn. Write to us anyway and we'll tell you what is still possible.

Will I hear from you while I wait?

Yes. You get a note when your piece starts in the workshop, a progress note halfway through, and tracking or a booking call when it leaves.

Delivery

What does delivery cost?

Standard delivery is $59, or free on orders over $999. White-glove delivery is $199 flat for the whole order. You choose at checkout and see the total before you confirm anything.

Will white-glove carry it up the stairs?

Yes. Stairs, elevators and tight hallways are part of the job. Tell us about narrow turns or a booked elevator when you order so the crew comes prepared.

Can the crew take away my old furniture?

Not at the moment. White-glove crews remove every scrap of our packaging, but they can't haul away old pieces. Many cities run bulky-item pickup for that.

Where do you deliver?

This demo store pretends to deliver across Canada and the continental US. In reality nothing ships, because Maren Home is a fictional brand on a sample website.

Returns and warranty

How long do I have to return a piece?

30 days from delivery. Live with it, sit on it, check it against the drawing. If it isn't right, write to us and we'll arrange the pickup.

What does a return cost?

Return shipping matches our delivery rates: $59 for parcel pieces and $199 for a freight pickup. Your refund goes back to the original payment method within 5 business days of the piece reaching us.

What does the warranty cover?

Every frame has a 10-year structural warranty. Covers, finishes and moving parts like drawer runners and castors are covered for 2 years.

Sizing and fit

How do I know a piece will fit?

Every product page has a drawing to scale plus a full table of measurements. Mark the footprint on your floor with painter's tape, then measure your doorway's clear width. Anything that won't pass a standard 76 cm opening says so in its spec table.

What if it doesn't fit through my door?

If a white-glove crew can't get a piece in safely, it goes back with them and we refund you in full, less the delivery fee.

Can you make a custom size?

Not yet. The line is small on purpose, but some pieces come in more than one size: the Halden table seats six or eight, and our beds come in queen or king.

Materials and care

Can I get fabric and finish samples?

Yes. We mail up to four free samples so you can see colour and texture in your own light. Ask on the contact page and say which pieces you're deciding on.

Do the covers really come off?

Yes, on every upholstered piece. Most covers are dry clean only, and replacement covers can be ordered for as long as we make the piece.

How do I fix a scratch in an oiled top?

Sand the mark lightly along the grain with fine paper, wipe away the dust, then rub in a thin coat of hardwax oil and let it dry overnight. A care card with the steps comes in the box.

Which fabric is best with pets?

Graphite weave is our tightest fabric and the easiest to brush clean. Boucle loops can catch claws, so we suggest it for homes without cats.

Showroom and trade

Can I see the furniture in person?

Yes. The showroom at 48 Selden St, Toronto, has every piece in the line set up to sit on. We're open Thursday to Sunday, 10:00 to 18:00, and Monday to Wednesday by appointment.

Do you work with interior designers?

Yes. Designers and architects can open a trade account with project pricing and one contact for every order. Choose "Trade and interior designers" on the contact form.
