About this piece

Why it's built this way

The trestle earns its place: with the legs set well inboard, all six seats slide in cleanly and the table still stands dead firm. The 30 mm ash top is finished with hardwax oil, so a hot dish or a homework crater can be sanded out at home.

The 'Seats 8' length adds 40 cm and a third stretcher, not just more overhang.

    Solid, and the oil finish forgives

    Our kids left a hot pan mark in week two. I sanded it lightly and re-oiled it the way the care card says, and you can't find it now. One star off because delivery landed at the long end of the six-week estimate.
