Ranges, not promises

Tutoring marketing loves a big clean number. Real learning data is messier, so that's what we publish: medians, ranges, and the students who didn't move — plus what happened next for them.

A How we measure

Same instrument, every 12 weeks

Every student is re-tested on the same instrument every 12 weeks, so comparisons are honest. The figures below describe our (fictional) 2025 cohort — shown as ranges, because that's what real data looks like.

  • Subject students re-take the assessment battery from week zero — same skills, fresh items.
  • Test-prep students sit full-length proctored practice tests every 3–4 weeks; the entry diagnostic is the baseline.
  • You see the raw before/after at the parent debrief — the actual pages, not a summary adjective.

B The 2025 cohort

What last year actually looked like

n = 41

Elementary reading (2×/week, 12+ weeks)

34 of 41 moved up at least one reading level on re-test; 7 stayed flat and got revised plans — 3 of those moved the following cycle.

n = 57

Middle-school math (1–2×/week, 12+ weeks)

Median quiz/test average moved from a C− to a B− within one grading period. About 1 in 5 moved more; about 1 in 6 needed a second cycle to move at all.

n = 33

SAT 24-hour package (homework completed)

Composite improvements ranged from +40 to +210 against the entry diagnostic; the median was +110. Students who skipped the practice tests improved least — we say so up front.

The Study Loft is a fictional center, so this cohort is illustrative — it exists to show how an honest tutoring business would publish results: sample sizes, medians, ranges, and the flat cases, together.

C The refusals

Three things we won't promise

  1. 01

    We won't promise a letter-grade jump by a date. Kids aren't invoices.

  2. 02

    We won't quote a guaranteed SAT point gain. Any center quoting one is quoting marketing.

  3. 03

    We won't keep billing when the numbers say a student doesn't need us. Recommending a break is in the plan template.

What we promise instead: the same test every 12 weeks, the raw numbers at every debrief, and a plan that changes — in writing — when the numbers don't. See it from the inside on the how-it-works page.

The free 60-minute assessment is week zero: it's the exact instrument we re-test against every 12 weeks, so progress is measured against a real starting point instead of a feeling.
