Small business returns

S corporations, partnerships and LLCs. Business returns, K-1s, contractor 1099s and the owner's own return, under one roof.

In plain words

Corner stores, salons, trade crews, food businesses. If your business files its own return, we prepare it along with the K-1s for each owner and then the owners' personal returns, so the numbers match from top to bottom.

We work from your books, whether that's QuickBooks, Xero or a clean spreadsheet. We don't do monthly bookkeeping, but we'll look over the year-end numbers before we file and tell you what looks off.

  • S corporations and LLCs taxed as one
  • Partnerships and multi-owner LLCs
  • Single-owner LLCs (these usually go on the owner's Schedule C)

How you pay

You pay when you sign: card, cash or check. We never take our fee out of your refund, and we don't sell refund loans or refund transfers.

Our accuracy promise

If we make a mistake on your return that leads to an IRS or Wisconsin penalty or interest, we pay that penalty and interest and fix the return for free. The tax itself was always yours to pay, so that part isn't covered. Bring us the letter; we handle the rest.

Good to know

1 Business returns come first

For calendar-year businesses, S corporation and partnership returns are due by March 15, a month before personal returns. Owners need their K-1s to file.

2 An LLC isn't one tax type

A single-owner LLC usually reports on the owner's Schedule C. A multi-owner LLC usually files a partnership return. Either can choose to be taxed as an S corporation.

What to bring

  • Year-end profit and loss and balance sheet
  • Last year's business return
  • Payroll reports and W-3 summary, if you have employees
  • Names, addresses and tax IDs of contractors you paid
  • Loan statements and any big purchases (equipment, vehicles)

Missing something? Book anyway. Many gaps can be filled from your IRS transcript.

Questions about small business returns

All questions →
Do you do payroll or monthly bookkeeping?

No. We review your payroll forms at year-end and work with your payroll company or bookkeeper. If you need one, we can share names of local bookkeepers our clients use.

When is my business return due?

For most calendar-year S corporations and partnerships, March 15. If that falls on a weekend or holiday, it moves to the next business day. We can file an extension if your books need more time.

Should my LLC be an S corporation?

Sometimes it saves money, sometimes it just adds payroll costs and paperwork. We walk through the numbers with you. The legal side of setting it up goes to an attorney.
