About us
A small Concord company that installs generators, then keeps answering the phone.
Keeplight started in 2009 with one van and a lot of portable generators wired the wrong way into neighbors' panels. We have been fixing that, one house at a time, ever since.
Our story
Dana Whitcomb was a master electrician doing renovation work when a long winter outage hit the region. For weeks afterward, the calls were the same: a portable generator, a cord through a window, and sometimes a homemade cord into the dryer outlet. Some of those setups were dangerous to the family and to the line crews working on the street.
Keeplight began by installing proper inlets and transfer switches, then standby generators. Over time the work that mattered most turned out to be the visit after the install: the yearly service, the transfer test, the battery that would have failed in January. So that is how we built the company: sized honestly, written down, and still here next year.
We are still small on purpose. Nine people, one shop on Millbrook Way, and an area we can cross in about 35 minutes.

How we work
Four habits we hold ourselves to
-
01
Size it honestly
We quote the smallest system that does the job you described. Bigger is not better if it sits mostly idle.
-
02
Write it all down
Quotes list permits, the switch, the pad, the gas line and the first-year visit. Reports list readings. Nothing lives only in someone's head.
-
03
Say the safety part plainly
Generators are engines. We explain carbon monoxide, gas smells and backfeeding without drama, and we will not sell on fear.
-
04
Be there next year
Most of our work is the visit after the install. We plan the business around being reachable.
The people who answer
The same few people do your site visit, your install and your service. Here is who you will meet.
-
Dana Whitcomb
Owner, master electrician
Started Keeplight in 2009 after a winter of wiring portable generators into neighbors' panels the wrong way round. Still does most site visits.
-
Tom Bergeron
Lead installer, licensed gas fitter
Runs install days. Measures twice, and writes the gas pressure readings on the inside of the unit's lid.
-
Kofi Mensah
Service technician
Handles most repair calls on other brands. Photographs every controller screen before he touches anything.
-
Ruth Ainsley
Quotes, permits and scheduling
Files every permit, chases every inspection, and answers the main line.
-
Jen Lavoie
Maintenance plans
Keeps 640 plan visits on the calendar and sends the reminder texts.
Licenses and insurance
Ask for copies at the site visit and we will email them the same day. (This is a fictional business: no real license numbers are shown on this demo.)
Contact the office- Master electrician and licensed gas fitter on staff

Site visits are free
Meet us at your house.
Site visits are free and take about an hour. Dana or Tom will read the panel, list the loads with you and leave you with a plan.
