Baca & Ferris Disability Law

About us

Overview

Baca & Ferris is a small Albuquerque law firm that does one thing: Social Security disability claims, SSDI and SSI. We started in 2011 because the system is hard to face alone, and we still work the way we began, one client and one step at a time.

Our story

Teresa Baca grew up in the South Valley. When she was in high school, her father hurt his back on a job site and never went back to work. His disability claim took almost three years. She remembers the letters piling up on the kitchen table, and how no one explained what they meant.

She opened the firm in 2011 to be the person who explains them. Owen Ferris joined in 2015 from a legal aid office. Today we are a team of five, and every one of us works only on Social Security disability.

Our clients are often in pain, worried about money and tired of forms. So we keep things simple: we answer the phone, we explain each step before it happens, and we are honest about the odds, including when we think a claim should wait or take a different path.

How we work

Plain words

We explain every letter, form and decision in language you can use. If something is unclear, that is our job to fix, not yours.

Honest odds

We never promise approval. We tell you what helps your claim, what hurts it, and when we think another path is better.

Come to you

Phone, video, our step-free office, or a visit at home or in the hospital around Albuquerque. Your health decides, not our schedule.

Answered calls

A person answers during business hours, in English or Spanish. Clients hear from us at least once a month while they wait.

Meeting with us should not be hard

What we will never do

Trust is earned in small moments. These are the lines we do not cross.

  • Promise that your claim will be approved
  • Take a share of your monthly benefits
  • Ask you to sign anything on the first call
  • Tell you to stop or change your medical treatment
  • Leave a voicemail unanswered for more than one business day

Need help with your claim?

Call our intake line or start a free case evaluation. A person reads every answer and calls you back within one business day. There is no fee unless you win back pay.
