FM-1103 · Pre-War · 1919 – 1942

1934 Riley Kestrel 12/4 Sports Saloon

A remarkably original fastback saloon — the thinking enthusiast's pre-war car.

$46,500 USD

Grade IV — Preserved original

The motor car

Riley's Kestrel bodywork gave the 12/4 chassis a rakish fastback profile years ahead of its time, and this example survives in genuinely original order: original interior woodwork, original upholstery now carefully conserved, and an engine believed original to the car.

The twin-camshaft four (a hemi-head design with short pushrods, decades before that layout became fashionable) revs freely, and the pre-selector gearbox makes town driving unexpectedly relaxed. A preservation-class car we would encourage the next owner to conserve rather than restore.

Restoration & condition

  • Never restored — conserved original paint with honest wear, professionally stabilised
  • Interior leather fed and conserved; original headlining intact
  • Full mechanical recommissioning in our workshop: cooling, ignition, fuel system and brakes
  • Pre-selector gearbox serviced with new bands 2025
  • Accompanied by buff logbook copy and club records

Graded Grade IV — Preserved original under the Ferrobello grading standard. Substantially as it left the factory. Original paint or a single documented repaint, original interior, unrestored driveline. Cars in this grade are conserved, never restored.
