1972 BMW 3.0 CSi

Karmann's pillarless E9 coupé is one of the most beautiful things BMW ever built, and the injected CSi is the one enthusiasts chase: 200 bhp, taller gearing and delicate detail changes. E9s live or die by their structure, so we put this car on the lift before we bought it — the inspection report, with photographs of every known trouble spot, is in the file.

Finished in Polaris silver over navy, it received a sympathetic recommissioning in our workshop and drives with the long-legged fluency that made these cars the autobahn aristocracy of their day.

Restoration & condition

• Structural survey with photographic record — sills, shock towers and floors verified sound
• Sympathetic recommissioning 2025: injection system through-tested, new pump and lines
• Suspension refreshed with correct-rate springs and dampers
• Older repaint in original Polaris; brightwork very good
• Original toolkit in bootlid; owner's folder from 1989 onwards

Graded Grade III — Sympathetic recommissioning under the Ferrobello grading standard. An honest car returned to full running order with the least possible intervention. Original finishes conserved where sound; consumables, brakes and safety systems renewed.
