Merino is the only fabric that solves the shoulder-season problem — warm when damp, cool when working, stink-proof when worn for days — and 185 gsm is the weight that works from June scrambles to January ski tours under a shell.
The Wayfarer's shoulder seams are set forward off the pack-strap line, the hem is long enough to stay tucked, and the flatlock stitching won't rub under a hipbelt. Machine washable; hang dry and it outlives synthetics three to one.
