Curriculum
A day in the life, hour by hour.

Learning areas
Seven things children learn here, every day.
They do not happen in separate lessons. A walk in the rain covers science, words, movement and taking turns with the umbrella.
-
Language and early reading
Read-alouds every day, songs and rhymes, talking about pictures, and for older children, letters and sounds.
Looks like: Infants: board books. Toddlers: naming everything. Pre-K: writing their name.
-
Early math
Counting, sorting, patterns, shapes and comparing big and small, built into play and snack time.
Looks like: Counting crackers, sorting blocks by colour, measuring plants in the garden.
-
Science and nature
Water tables, magnets, seeds and weather. Children ask questions and test their guesses.
Looks like: What floats? Why did the snow melt? Where do worms go when it rains?
-
Art and music
Paint, clay, collage and instruments. The process matters more than a perfect picture.
Looks like: Easel painting, drum circles, a spring art show for families.
-
Movement and outdoor play
Two outdoor times most days for children over 18 months, plus indoor movement on rainy days.
Looks like: Climbing, running games, bikes, yoga stories.
-
Feelings and friendship
Naming feelings, calming down, taking turns, and fixing a problem with a friend.
Looks like: Feelings charts, a calm corner, practice with "Can I have a turn?"
-
Taking care of myself
Washing hands, putting on a coat, using the toilet, serving food. Small wins every day.
Looks like: The "coat flip", family-style meals, a cubby they keep tidy.
How teachers plan
Watch, plan, share.
Every teacher has paid planning time each week. That is how play stays on purpose.
-
Watch
Teachers note what each child is trying, enjoying and finding hard.
-
Plan
Next week's activities build on those notes, room by room and child by child.
-
Share
You see photos and notes in the app, and meet the teacher twice a year to talk progress.
Meals
Real food, cooked here
Our cook, Rosa, makes breakfast, lunch and two snacks every day in our own kitchen. The menu runs on a four-week cycle with fruit or vegetables at every meal, and it is posted in the app a month ahead.
- Nut-aware kitchen: no peanuts or tree nuts are served
- Allergy plans on file and posted in each room
- Vegetarian and religious diets welcome
- Water and milk only, no juice
