Temporary permit (TIPIC)
Pass the 40-question knowledge test at the BMV. Our classroom course and its 1,000-question practice bank get most students there in two to three weeks.
-
24 hrs
Classroom instruction
State-approved driver education — ours is self-paced online, so it fits around soccer season. Start before the permit if you like; there's no order requirement.
-
8 hrs
In-car with an instructor
Eight hours behind the wheel of a dual-brake car with a licensed instructor. Permit required before the first drive — Ohio law, no exceptions.
-
50 hrs
Parent-supervised practice
Fifty logged hours with a parent or guardian, ten of them at night. We hand you the log sheet and a coaching guide so the driveway arguments stay short.

Road test & probationary license
Held the permit six months, finished everything above, sixteen years old: book the state road test. Take it in our car if you want the one you learned in.
We will never guarantee you a pass
No school can guarantee a pass — the examiner works for the state, not for us, and anyone promising a pass is selling something. What we can do is refuse to book your test-day package until a mock test says you're ready. That refusal is most of the 87%.
87%
87% of the 214 students who took the road test in a Greenlight car in 2025 passed on their first attempt.
Counted the honest way: every student, including the ones we told to wait — because that advice is part of the number. Fictional demo figure.
Two brake pedals, zero raised voices
The fleet
Five late-model cars — Corollas, Civics (one 6-speed), a small SUV — each with an instructor brake pedal, extra mirrors, and a roof sign that buys you the most patient traffic in Columbus.

4.6 stars, honestly kept
All 10 reviews — including the 3-star one“The progress notes sold me”
After every single drive I got a written note — what they practiced, what was shaky, what to work on in the driveway hours. My daughter passed first try, but honestly I'd have left five stars just for the communication.
“Nobody made me feel behind”
Elena started me in an empty lot and had me merging onto 315 by lesson seven. At the mid-pack review they told me I'd likely only need nine of my ten lessons — then refunded the tenth without me asking. That's the review, really.
Pick a program, pick a time, done
The booking tool quotes the same prices as the pricing page — program, transmission, pickup spot, instructor, and a real time slot, in about ninety seconds. Or call and a human who teaches for a living picks up.
