How the test actually works
Three things schools rarely say out loud
The state test is free — and bookable by you
Ohio's road test costs nothing to schedule and you book it yourself on the BMV site. Any school that 'books the test for you' for a fee is charging for a web form. We'll show you the form instead.
Two halves: road + maneuverability
A short on-road drive, then the cone box. Most first-attempt fails we see are maneuverability, which is why the tune-up drills a regulation layout until the wheel positions are boring.
Your car or ours
Your own car works if it passes the examiner's checklist — everything functional, valid registration and insurance. Ours comes inspected, insured, dual-brake, and already familiar if you trained with us.

Maneuverability
The cone box, until it's boring
We keep a regulation maneuverability layout coned in a closed lot. Sam — who owns this drill — can diagnose a fail from the first wheel turn and fix it in twenty minutes. The goal isn't to survive the box; it's to be mildly bored by it.
The blunt-verdict policy: the tune-up ends with "ready" or "here's what to fix first." We refuse to book a test-day package for a student whose mock test says wait — that refusal is most of our 87%.

Insurance honesty: we can only hand the keys to someone we've seen drive, so this option needs at least one prior lesson with us.
Test date on the calendar?
Book the tune-up two weeks out and the test-day package for the morning itself. If the mock test says you're not ready, we'll say so and help you move the state slot — that conversation is free.
