What comes up most
- Teachers who know the child
- Named in most reviews, usually with a story attached.
- Straight talk on tuition
- Families mention getting the aid figure in the same letter as the yes.
- The ravine
- Parents of younger children bring it up more than any classroom.
- What they'd change
- Pickup traffic on Chapel Green Lane. We're working on it (see below).
Every division, every kind of week
-
Lower School“We toured four schools. Marlowe was the only one where the admissions director told us what the school is bad at. That's when we trusted the rest of what she said.”

Lower School“Our son's reading clicked in Grade 1, and it wasn't luck. Mr. Webb had a plan for him by the second week and told us exactly what it was.”
Parent of a Grade 2 student Joined 2023 -
Middle School“His advisor called us before we'd noticed anything was wrong. Eight kids in an advisory group sounds like a small thing. It isn't.”
Parent of a Grade 7 student Joined 2022 -
Whole school“We assumed we couldn't afford it and almost didn't apply. The indexed-tuition letter came with the acceptance, and the number was one we could plan around.”
Indexed-tuition family, two children Joined 2021 -
Whole school“We moved to Elmbridge in February with a Grade 4 and a Grade 8. The private visit was set up in two days, and both kids had a buddy waiting on their first morning.”
Parents of two, mid-year move Joined 2024 -
Upper School“Grade 9 was a real step up in workload, and the first term was hard on our daughter. The school was upfront that it would be, and her advisor helped her build a plan. By spring she had it.”
Parent of a Grade 10 student Joined 2019 -
Upper School“Thesis Night is the best evening of the school year, and I don't even have a senior yet. You watch seventeen-year-olds defend a year of work and you understand the whole place.”
Parent of a Grade 11 student Joined 2018 -
Lower School“Pickup on Chapel Green Lane between 3:30 and 3:50 is a mess, and it has been for years. Everything inside the gate is wonderful. Everything outside it at 3:40 is not.”
Parent of a Grade 3 student Joined 2022 Marlowe replies
Fair, and we hear it often. Starting in January, Lower School pickup moves to the Barton Hall loop, with staggered times by grade and a staff member at the crossing. Tell us if it isn't better by March.

Upper School“College counselling never once asked where we wanted her to go. They asked what she wanted to do, and the list came out of that. She's happy where she landed, and it wasn't the famous name.”

Reviews on this sample site are written as examples. A real Marlowe page would pull them from Google with the reviewer's permission. We never place a child's photo next to a review, and we never edit a review except to remove a child's name.

Ask to meet a current family
On any tour, tell us your child's grade and we'll put you in touch with a family in the same division. Several have offered to take calls, and none of them are scripted.
