Questions about fees

How much does it cost?

Chapter 7 starts at $1,250 and Chapter 13 at $4,500, plus the court filing fee. Your exact fee is in writing after the free consultation, and it does not change unless the case changes.

Can I pay over time?

Yes. For Chapter 7, you can pay in up to five monthly payments before we file. For Chapter 13, as little as $500 is due before filing, and the rest is paid through your plan as the court approves.

What if I cannot afford the court fee?

The court can let you pay the filing fee in installments. For Chapter 7, it can waive the fee if your household income is below a set level. We help you ask.

Fees shown are starting points for typical cases. Cases with more property, a business, or a creditor lawsuit inside the bankruptcy may cost more, and we tell you why in writing before you agree.
