Founding Partner · Chair, Complex Commercial Litigation

Marcus J. Westbrook

“Preparation is the only advantage a courtroom respects.”

Marcus Westbrook founded the firm in 2011 on a single conviction: clients hire trial lawyers to try cases, not to supervise them. Over three decades he has taken more than twenty commercial disputes to verdict as lead counsel — for plaintiffs and defendants in roughly equal measure — in federal and state courts across the country.

Before founding Westbrook & Hayes he spent seventeen years at a global firm, where he chaired the commercial trial group and concluded, matter by matter, that the cases he was proudest of were the ones staffed the leanest. He built this firm to staff every case that way.
