FAQ
Questions owners ask first.

Fees and billing
Is the first consultation really free?
Yes. The first 30-minute call is free, with no obligation. We use it to understand what you need and tell you whether we're the right fit, then send a written flat-fee quote if you want one.
What does a flat fee include?
Exactly what the written quote lists: the documents, the calls and the rounds of changes. If something comes up that's outside it, we tell you and re-quote before doing the extra work.
Are the prices on this site real quotes?
They're example ranges for typical small businesses. Your quote depends on your business and the work, and it's always confirmed in writing before we start.
Do you ever bill by the hour?
Sometimes, mostly in disputes where the other side controls the pace. When we do, you get a written budget for each phase and an update before it's passed.
Working with us
How fast will I hear back?
A lawyer replies to every inquiry within one business day. If something is urgent, like a lawsuit you've been served with, call and say so.
Do I have to come to the office?
No. Most clients meet us by video or phone. You're welcome at our Boise office, and we'll come to your shop for a closing if that's easier.
Will you work with my CPA and banker?
Gladly. Many of our clients come to us through their CPA or banker, and the best formation and deal work happens when we're all on the same call.
Does contacting you make you my lawyer?
No. We become your lawyer once we've checked for conflicts and you've signed an engagement letter. Until then, please don't send confidential details.
Formation and contracts
Can you fix an LLC I already formed online?
Yes. Our LLC clean-up covers a missing operating agreement, ownership records and any filings that slipped. It's one of our most common requests.
Can you review a contract written by the other side's lawyer?
That's most of what contract review is. We'll tell you what's normal, what's one-sided and what we'd ask to change.
Do you work with businesses outside Idaho?
We advise on Idaho matters. If your company or contract is governed by another state's law, we work with trusted counsel licensed there.
Disputes
Can you promise a good result?
No. No honest lawyer can. We promise a clear read of your options, the costs of each and our honest view of the odds.
I've been served. How fast do I need to act?
Right away. Response deadlines can be short. Call us the same day and bring the papers you received.
Not legal advice. These answers are general information. Every business is different, so talk to a lawyer about your situation. Reading this page does not create an attorney-client relationship. See also our guides.
