Community

A community that answers back.

Third cylinder in a row folded at the same height

Always around four inches. I cut the last one in half like the lesson says, photo attached. Crit welcome!

Nico Host

Your wall is thick near the floor and thin at four inches. Do one more pull from the very bottom before you go up. Try it Tuesday and show us.

First mug I'd actually give someone

Handle from Mugs Worth Holding, lesson 6. Chun blue over a white liner. My partner already claimed it.

Test tile grid: two glazes, four thicknesses

Recipe credit: the shino from the recipe book, page 12. The thick row crawled. Bringing it to Thursday's clinic.

Your first week

Members who post once in week one tend to stay. So we make it easy.

  1. Day 1

Say hi on the Front porch

One line is plenty: where you are, what you've made so far, and whether you have a wheel.

  2. Day 2

    Watch your first lesson

Ten minutes. Marisol's welcome note links to the right one for your setup.

  3. Days 3 to 5

    Post your first pot

Wobbly, cracked, cut in half: all welcome. Everyone here started with one.

  4. Weekend

    Come to open studio

Sunday at 4 pm ET. Camera off is fine. Just work alongside people for a while.

Community rules

Six rules. That's all of them.

Marisol and two volunteer hosts read every space on weekdays. Reports get a reply within one working day. Breaking a rule means a private warning first; doing it again means removal, with a refund for the unused part of your membership.

The community is members-only and hidden from search engines. Your profile shows your first name and last initial unless you change it.

  1. Be kind about every pot.

Everyone here has made a wobbly bowl. Wobbly is welcome.

  2. Critique the pot, not the potter.

Only give critique when a post says crit welcome. Start with what's working, then one thing to try.

  3. No selling or pitching.

No ads, affiliate links or DMs selling courses or services. One link to your own shop on your profile is fine.

  4. Credit recipes and ideas.

If you share a glaze recipe or a technique you learned somewhere else, say where it came from.

  5. Safety posts get a pinned correction.

If a post shows unsafe kiln, dust or glaze practice, a host adds a kind, pinned note. Please don't pile on.

  6. Members' work stays here.

Don't repost anyone's pots or photos outside the community without asking them first.

Post your first wobbly pot this week.

Free members can say hi on the Front porch today. Library members get every space for $12 a month, and you can cancel in two clicks.
