What we look for
In your application
Genuine motivation for career change
Why this career change? Why now? Why this program? Strong applicants have specific reasons + thoughtful self-reflection. We don’t require perfection — we require thoughtfulness.
Aptitude (varies by program)
Software Engineering: problem-solving + logical thinking aptitude. Data Science: comfort with numbers + analytical thinking. UX/UI: visual + user empathy. Other programs: program-specific aptitudes.
Capacity to commit time
Bootcamp is intensive — ~40 hours/week (intensive) or ~25 hours/week (part-time). Applicants need to plan time commitment + finance + family logistics. We help with planning.
Financial realism
$16,000 is the minimum cost. ISA + loans available. Applicants need to think through financing realistically. We discuss in interview.
Job-search willingness
Bootcamp + job placement requires willingness to actively job search. Most students apply to 50-100 jobs during + post-bootcamp. Applicants who think they’ll be handed jobs without applying don’t fit.
Background diversity welcome
Career changers from many backgrounds: marketing, sales, hospitality, education, finance, healthcare, military. We don’t require tech background. We require thoughtfulness + capacity to work hard.
Common applicant types
Who's applied successfully
First-time career changer
Most common type. 5-10 years professional experience in non-tech field. Wants to pivot. Strong soft skills + willingness to learn fast. Software Engineering + UX/UI most common destinations.
Recent college graduate
Just out of college (last 3 years). Strong undergraduate record but realized career path doesn’t fit. Bootcamp as alternative to additional schooling or low-pay entry-level role.
Mid-career role expansion
10-20 years experience in adjacent field. Wants to add tech skills to existing career. Product Management + Data Science most common — leveraging existing domain expertise.
Cybersecurity from IT
Cybersecurity bootcamp specifically for IT professionals (sysadmins, helpdesk, networking) seeking security pivot. Strong existing technical foundation; specific certification + hands-on lab work needed.
International applicants
Bootcamp is fully online — no US visa needed. Many international graduates work in their home countries; some seek US opportunities through US visa support (case-by-case).
Returning to workforce
Career-pause returners (especially women returning post-childcare). 5-15 year career gaps possible. Strong applicants demonstrate continued curiosity + learning.
