FAQ
Fair questions, straight answers
The questions patients actually ask — including the awkward money ones and the 'I'm genuinely scared' one. If yours isn't here, call or write; a human answers both.
Visits + booking
Are you taking new patients?
Yes, at both studios. Most new patients get a first appointment within a week — book online in about a minute, or call and Morgan will find you a slot that fits around work.
Do you see emergencies the same day?
Almost always, if you call before 2 p.m. Describe what's happening and we'll triage honestly — some things genuinely can wait a day; real pain can't, and we hold space for it.
What's your cancellation policy?
Life happens — just give us two business days' notice so someone else can use the chair. Repeated no-shows may be asked to prepay, but we'll always talk to you like an adult first.
Do you see kids?
Enthusiastically. First visits for under-threes are free, and Dr. Ruiz has converted some famously reluctant customers. See the pediatric page for how we do it.
Money
How much will my visit cost?
Our prices are published on this site — checkups, fillings, crowns, implants, Invisalign, all of it. For anything beyond a cleaning you get an exact written quote before treatment starts, and we pre-check your insurance coverage too.
Do you bill insurance directly?
Yes — we submit electronically to nearly all major Canadian plans while you're in the chair, so you only pay your portion on the day.
What if I don't have insurance?
The Polished Plan covers cleanings, exams, and X-rays for a flat monthly price and takes 15% off everything else — details on the insurance page. Payment plans at 0% are available for larger treatment.
Why do your prices have ranges?
Because honest dentistry has ranges — a one-surface filling isn't a three-surface filling. What we won't do is quote you the bottom of a range and bill you the top. Your written quote is exact.
Comfort + care
I'm scared of the dentist. Genuinely.
You're in the majority, and you're why this practice exists. Tell us when you book — we'll schedule extra time, explain everything before it happens, and agree a stop signal that we always honour. Sedation is available for bigger visits. Nobody here will ever shame you.
Do you offer sedation?
Yes — nitrous oxide (laughing gas) for lighter takes-the-edge-off moments and oral sedation for longer procedures. Both are discussed and priced up front like everything else.
Does whitening damage your teeth?
Professional whitening done at sensible concentrations doesn't damage enamel — that's a myth with terrific staying power. Temporary sensitivity is real for some people, which is why we offer the gentler take-home protocol.
How often do I actually need a cleaning?
For most adults, every six months. Some gums genuinely need a four-month cycle for a while; some healthy mouths stretch to nine. We recommend based on your measurements, not a default calendar — and we'll show you the measurements.
Still wondering about something specific — a price, a procedure, whether your insurance plays nicely? Ask us directly or check the published fee list.
Polished Dental Co
No question disqualifies you from good teeth.
Ask it at the consult, ask it mid-cleaning with the hand signal, ask it by email at 2 a.m. — we've heard everything, and we answer all of it without the eyebrow.
