Two questions, no medical jargon. This guide doesn't diagnose anything —
it routes you to the right front door and tells you why that door fits.
A nurse is always one call away if you'd rather talk it through: (616) 555-0119, 24/7.
Before anything else
Is any of this happening right now?
Chest pain or pressure, or pain spreading to the arm, neck, or jaw
Signs of stroke — face drooping, arm weakness, slurred speech, sudden confusion
Severe trouble breathing
Bleeding that won't stop, or a major injury
Sudden severe headache — “the worst of my life”
Thoughts of suicide or of harming someone (or call/text 988)
A baby under 3 months old with a fever
When one of these is true, minutes matter more than any guide. Everything else can wait two questions.
Emergency
Call 911 now. Don't drive if you don't have to.
Paramedics start treatment the moment they arrive and radio ahead so the
emergency team is ready at the door. If this is a mental-health crisis,
call or text 988 — the Suicide & Crisis
Lifeline answers every hour of every day.

If things change: Heavy bleeding or severe, sudden symptoms in pregnancy: call 911. Urgent care is never the right door during pregnancy.

One access line for therapy and psychiatry — first appointments within two weeks, in person at Maple Grove or by video.
Why this door
Anxiety, low mood, and overwhelm are health conditions, not character flaws — and they respond to treatment the way most conditions do: sooner is easier.
If things change: The nurse line is guidance, not treatment. If the nurse says go to the ER, go — and if things turn severe mid-call, hang up and dial 911.
Rather talk to a person? Nurse line, 24/7:
(616) 555-0119
This guide offers navigation, not medical advice or diagnosis. It never
replaces clinical judgment — when in doubt, call the nurse line; when in
danger, call 911. (Demo site: all phone numbers are fictional.)
