Your first visit
What to expect
You'll be triaged by a nurse within minutes of arrival — the sickest are seen first, always. Registration happens at the bedside, and if you're admitted, the hospitalist team already has your ER chart.
When it can't wait
Call 911 for chest pain, stroke signs (face drooping, arm weakness, slurred speech), severe bleeding, or trouble breathing — paramedics start treatment on the way. When in doubt at 3 a.m., the nurse line answers; when it's clearly serious, don't call us first — call 911.
