About Aurora

We started this because the system is broken.

Aurora is a clinician-owned group practice. Three of us — therapists who'd spent years working in larger systems — opened the doors in 2019 because the way Ontario delivers therapy was making people quit before they got better. We're 28 clinicians strong now, still clinician-owned, still mad about waitlists.

Our promise

Therapy that works for people who've quit before.

Most people who try therapy and don't continue do so because of bad fit, not bad therapy. Aurora's whole architecture exists to make fit easier, faster, and cheaper to find.

Fit over algorithm.

We don't believe an algorithm can pick a therapist for you. We send two real options and you choose. Your intuition is part of the data.

Time over pace.

Our clinicians have manageable caseloads, paid CE time, and structured supervision. Burned-out therapists deliver bad therapy. We refuse to run that race.

Outcomes over assertions.

We track every member's symptom scores at intake and at sessions 4, 8, and 16. Annual outcome report every January. The data drives staffing and supervision.

Affordability isn't a side thing.

30% of our caseload sits at sliding-scale rates. We exist because mental healthcare in Canada is rationed by waitlist; we wanted to be the practice that wasn't.

The team

Twenty-eight clinicians. Twelve thousand members.

We hire ahead of demand and staff to keep openings, not waitlists. Our clinicians have manageable caseloads — and they stay.

Research + outcomes

We track everything we can.

Symptom scores at intake, session 4, session 8, session 16. Member satisfaction each quarter. Clinician supervision metrics monthly. The data goes into our annual outcome report and into the systems we use to staff the practice.

  • Annual outcome report — every January, public on our blog.
  • GAD-7, PHQ-9, and outcome-rating-scale tracking from intake.
  • University research collaborations on DBT + perinatal programs.
  • Clinician supervision data fed back into hiring + retention.
