Aurora Mind Health

About us

Built by people who got tired of watching people wait.

Aurora Mind Health started with a waiting list — specifically, the eleven-month one Dr. Maya Okafor watched grow at her hospital outpatient program. The people on it didn't need eleven months. They needed a practice designed around how finding help actually feels: confusing, vulnerable, and easier to abandon than to start.

Small enough to know you. Big enough to fit you.

We stayed deliberately mid-sized: eight therapists and two prescribers. Big enough that there's a genuine specialist for trauma, OCD, couples work, and the rest — small enough that our care coordinator knows every clinician's style personally, not from a spreadsheet.

The practice runs on one question, asked at intake and every few weeks after: "Is this still helping?" When the answer is no, we change something — the approach, the format, sometimes the therapist. Nobody here is offended by the truth.

What we hold ourselves to

Four promises, kept boringly.

Fit before everything

The best predictor of therapy helping is the relationship. So we invest where it counts: honest matching, free intro calls, and a no-guilt switch policy.

Plain words

If we can't explain an approach, a fee, or a policy in one breath of normal language, we rewrite it until we can. Jargon is a door closed in someone's face.

No performance required

You don't have to be articulate, composed, or 'bad enough' to deserve support. Come as the person you actually are on a Tuesday.

Care that talks to itself

Therapy and psychiatry under one roof, coordinating with your consent — so you never have to be the courier between your own clinicians.
