First visits

When should my child first see a dentist?

Pediatric dental guidelines say by the first birthday, or within six months of the first tooth. If your child is older and hasn't been yet, that's fine. Book a first visit now and we'll start from where you are.

Can I stay with my child during the visit?

Yes. Parents and guardians are welcome in every room, at every visit. Teens can choose a few minutes alone with the dentist if they want.

What if my child cries?

Crying is normal for babies and toddlers. We keep the exam short and calm, and you hold your child. It doesn't mean the visit went badly.

How much toothpaste should my child use?

Under age 3, a smear of fluoride toothpaste the size of a grain of rice. From age 3, a pea-size dab. Help with brushing until your child can tie their own shoes, and ask us to show you how at the visit.

What should I bring to the first visit?

Your insurance card if you have one, a list of medicines, and a favorite toy. We text the health forms to fill in at home first.

Comfort and sedation

How do you help nervous kids?

Tell-show-do, short visits, a show on the ceiling, kid sunglasses for the light and hand signals for breaks. We never scold, hold a child down to rush, or use scary words.

Does my child need sedation?

Most children don't. We only suggest it when it truly helps, and we explain every option, benefit and risk in plain words before you decide.

Is sedation safe?

Every medicine carries some risk. We lower it with a health review, written instructions, the lightest option that works and continuous monitoring by trained staff. General anesthesia is done at a partner surgery center with a licensed anesthesia provider.

Do you see children with special needs?

Yes. We plan each visit with you first, offer quiet first-of-day times and practice visits, and have a wheelchair-accessible room.

Insurance and cost

Which insurance do you take?

Most PPO dental plans, plus Health First Colorado and CHP+. We check your child's benefits before every visit and call you if anything will cost more than expected.

What if we don't have insurance?

Kite Club is our in-office membership: $32 a month per child covers two checkups, cleanings, fluoride, x-rays when needed and 15% off treatment. Or pay our published self-pay prices.

Will I know the cost before treatment?

Always. Any treatment comes with a written estimate showing what insurance should pay and your share. Nothing starts until you agree.

Injuries and urgent problems

What do I do if an adult tooth gets knocked out?

Call us right away. Hold the tooth by the top, not the root. Rinse it gently if dirty, and put it back in the socket if you can, or keep it in milk. Time matters, so come in as fast as you safely can.

What if it happens after hours?

Call our main number. The message gives the on-call dentist's line for injuries and severe pain. For a head injury, trouble breathing or swelling near the eye, go to the emergency room or call 911.

My child has a toothache. How soon can you see them?

We keep time open every weekday for problem visits. Call in the morning and we'll usually see your child the same day or the next.

Practical things

Up to what age do you see kids?

From the first tooth to age 18. Some patients with special health care needs stay with us into early adulthood.

Can siblings come at the same time?

Yes. We book siblings back-to-back or side by side so it's one trip for you.

Do you have Saturday hours?

Twice a month, 8:00 a.m. to noon, for checkups and cleanings. They fill quickly, so book a few weeks ahead.

Where do we park?

Free parking right outside the door, with two wide spots for strollers and wheelchairs.

Dental injury right now?

Call (970) 555-0148. After hours, the message gives the on-call dentist's number. For a head injury, trouble breathing or swelling near the eye, call 911.

Ready for an easy first visit?

Book online in about two minutes. We confirm by text, send the forms to fill in at home, and check your insurance before you arrive.
