Moisture
On concrete we test before we choose the underlay. Waterproof means the plank, not the slab under it: moisture trapped under any floor can grow mould.
Rigid-core plank that looks like wood, shrugs off spills, and suits basements, kitchens and busy family floors.
$5.50–$10 per sq ft, installed
Material and labour per square foot of floor, the same split you'll see on our written quote. Waste is added to the material you order, not to the labour.
Line totals rounded to the nearest $10. HST extra.
About waste 10% covers cuts at walls and the odd damaged plank in a box.
Stairs $95 to $160 per step, depending on nosing, open sides and landings.
What's not in the number yet Removing the old floor, levelling and any subfloor repairs. They're separate lines, and the estimate tool adds them.

Luxury vinyl plank (LVP) is the most requested floor in our showroom, and for good reason: the surface is waterproof, it is quiet underfoot with the right underlay, and it goes in fast. It is not indestructible. It only looks as good as the floor under it, so we spend real time on flatness before a single plank clicks in.
The three things that decide whether luxury vinyl plank lasts. We check each one at the free measure and write what we find on your quote.

Click-together plank flexes over dips, and the joints can open. We grind high spots and fill low ones until the floor is within about 3/16 in. over 10 ft.
03
Most rigid-core plank needs 24 to 48 hours in the room at normal temperature. Boxes that rode in a cold truck in January don't get opened the same day.
Moisture test on concrete, straightedge on every room, patch and grind.
Vapour barrier where needed and an acoustic underlay for upstairs and condos.
Joints staggered at least 8 in., planks mixed from several boxes so the pattern doesn't repeat.
Transitions, nosing and quarter-round, then a walk-through together.
The plank is. The seams resist spills, but a flooded basement can still get under the floor through the edges. If your basement has ever had water, fix the cause first; we will tell you if we see signs of it.
Sometimes. It can float over flat, well-stuck sheet vinyl or tile. It can't go over carpet or a floor with dips, and adding height can cause problems at doors and appliances. We decide at the measure, and we tell you what removal costs either way.
It is the clear top layer that takes the scratches. 12 mil suits bedrooms; 20 mil suits kitchens, entries and pets. It matters more than the plank's total thickness.
