About waste 12%: carpet comes in 12 ft rolls, so some waste is built into every room.

Our approach to carpet
Carpet is still the most comfortable floor for bedrooms and family rooms, and the quietest one for upstairs. The difference between carpet that stays tight and carpet that ripples is the install. We use a power stretcher, not just a knee kicker, and we plan seams so they sit out of the light and away from traffic.
A good choice for
- Bedrooms and family rooms where comfort matters most
- Stairs: quieter, and safer for small kids and older dogs
- Basement rec rooms over a dry slab, with the right pad
Think twice for
- Kitchens, bathrooms and entries
- Allergies (if you choose it, pick a low pile and vacuum often)
- Pets that have accidents, unless you choose a moisture-barrier pad

Subfloor
Squeaks are far easier to fix with the carpet up, so we screw down noisy spots before the new pad goes in.

Acclimation
Carpet unrolls in a warm room for a few hours to relax. We ask that the house sits above 18°C (65°F) on install day so it stretches properly.

- Power-stretched install and seams planned on a drawing first
- New tack strip where the old one is worn
- Stairs wrapped or upholstered, your choice
- Beds, sofas and tables moved; please empty dressers and shelves

- The durable all-rounder for bedrooms and stairs.
- Triexta
- Very stain resistant. A good pick for families and pets.
- Polyester
- Soft and affordable. Best in low-traffic rooms.
- Wool loop (berber)
- Natural, long-lasting, and the priciest. Watch for pet claws in loops.
- Carpet tile
- For basements: lift and replace a single tile after a spill.

Questions about carpet
All questionsWhy does carpet ripple?
Usually because it was only knee-kicked, not power-stretched, or because the pad was too thick for the carpet. Humidity makes it worse. We power-stretch every room, and we re-stretch for free within our two-year workmanship warranty.
How much does the pad matter?
A lot. The wrong pad voids many carpet warranties and wears carpet out early. Thicker is not always better: firm, dense pad is right for most rooms.
Can you do just the stairs?
Yes. A straight staircase of 12 to 14 steps usually takes half a day. Stairs alone are quoted per step, subject to our minimum job charge.
