How fees work
Most workers pay nothing upfront. Here is how each kind of help is priced, before you ever have to ask.
Ways we work

About 30 minutes, by phone, video or in our office
- A lawyer reviews your situation, not a call center
- Honest read on whether you may have a claim
- Your deadlines explained in writing

-
Contingency representation

Termination, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, accommodation and most wage cases
- Our fee is a share of what we recover, usually from 33% to 40% depending on how far the case goes
- The percentage is set in a written agreement before we start
- If there is no recovery, you owe no attorney fee
- Case costs, like filing fees and depositions, are explained up front
-
Severance review
From $750 to $1,500
Flat fee, set by the length of the agreement
- Every clause marked and explained in plain words
- A call to walk through it together
- Negotiation quoted in writing as a flat fee or a share of the increase
- Usually done within three business days
-
Strategy advice while employed
From $350 per hour
For workers who want a plan before anything happens
- How to report a problem in a way that protects you
- Reviewing an accommodation or leave request
- Quoted in advance with a cap you approve
- Often credited if your matter becomes a case
Fee terms on this sample site are examples. A real fee agreement is always in writing and explains the percentage, costs and what happens if the case does not succeed.
Contingency, step by step
-
You pay nothing to start
No retainer and no hourly bills on a contingency case.
-
We agree the percentage in writing
Before any work begins, with the stages that change it spelled out.
-
Costs are explained up front
Filing fees, transcripts and experts, and how they are repaid from any recovery.
-
No recovery, no attorney fee
If the case ends with nothing recovered, you do not owe us a fee.
Good to know: many wage laws, and some discrimination laws, let a worker who wins ask the court to order the employer to pay attorney fees. We explain how that interacts with your fee agreement before you sign it.
