Campaign 02 · Petition signatures

Electrify and expand the Route 12 corridor
Route 12 is the busiest crosstown bus in Calder County and the one most riders depend on to reach work and school. We are petitioning the county to fund electric buses and 10-minute peak service on the corridor in the FY2027 transportation budget.
Collected at stops, on board, and online since March.
Petition drive — FY2027 county budget hearings this fall
The plan, plainly
Our Who Rides Route 12? survey put numbers on what riders already know: 61% are heading to work or school, 43% have no car available for the trip, and evening waits average 22 minutes. When a bus is late, it is not an inconvenience — it is a missed shift.
The fix is unglamorous and completely doable: eight electric buses, charging at the existing depot, and enough drivers for 10-minute peak headways. County staff priced the package at $14.6M over four years, most of it eligible for state clean-transit matching funds.
Budgets are moral documents, but they are also popularity contests. A petition with 10,000 rider signatures, delivered at the first FY2027 hearing, makes Route 12 very hard to cut and very easy to fund. We are at 7,412 and counting.
The ask: 10,000 petition signatures before budget hearings open. Riders' names move budgets.
This week
Three ways to move this campaign
Letter 10 minutes
Write the transportation board about Route 12
A short, personal letter from a rider outweighs a stack of form emails. Start from our template, swap in your own trip, and send it before budget hearings open.
Canvass 3 hours
Take a Solar on Schools canvass shift
One trained volunteer covers a precinct in a shift. Full training at every launch, and first-timers always pair with an experienced captain. 214 of 500 shifts are filled.
Sustain 2 minutes, then it just works
Become a monthly sustainer
Steady small gifts are what let us plan a season instead of a month: trainings booked, toolkits printed, rooms reserved. Give what is sustainable for you — cancel anytime with one email.
The other fronts
Ready by 2030
100% clean electricity for city operations
One more councilmember. Six of nine votes are pledged; the resolution needs a seventh to be veto-proof.
Solar on Schools
Put Measure L — 22 school roofs — on the November ballot
500 canvass shifts before election day. A trained volunteer covers a precinct in one shift.
Your move
Worry is common. Invitations are scarce.
Consider this yours: three questions, and you'll have a first action that fits your week — script, template, or seat included.
