Tamarack Collision Care

Frequently asked questions

Short, straight answers about estimates, insurance, the repair itself, rentals and our warranty.

Estimates

Is the estimate free?

Yes. Written estimates are free, in person or from photos. A photo estimate is a starting point; we confirm it when we see the car.

Do I need an appointment?

Walk-ins are welcome on weekdays. An appointment means no waiting, and Saturday estimates are by appointment only.

Why might my final bill differ from the estimate?

Hidden damage. When we take parts off, we sometimes find more. We photograph it and get approval from your insurer, or from you, before doing any added work.

Insurance

Do I have to use the shop my insurer recommends?

No. You choose where your car is repaired. Your insurer can recommend a shop, and you can still say you'd like Tamarack.

Do you work with my insurance company?

We work with every insurer that writes car policies in Alberta, and with out-of-province insurers too.

Do I have to pay anything?

With an approved claim, you usually pay only your deductible, plus anything you choose to add that the policy doesn't cover.

The repair

How long will my repair take?

Small repairs take 1 to 3 days. Most collision repairs take 5 to 10 working days. Parts delays are the most common reason for a longer wait, and we tell you the same day we know.

Will you use new parts from the car's maker?

We use what your policy allows and what is safe for the repair. When there's a choice, we explain it and you decide.

How will I know what's happening?

You get a text when the car moves to each new stage, and a call if anything changes. You can also text Megan any time during business hours.

Rentals and towing

Can you tow my car?

Yes. Call our main line, day or night. After hours it forwards to our towing partner.

Will I get a rental car?

If your policy has loss of use coverage, or the other driver's insurer is paying, we book it for you. Without coverage, ask about our courtesy cars.

Payment and warranty

What warranty do you give?

A written lifetime warranty on workmanship and paint, for as long as you own the car. Parts carry their maker's warranty.

How can I pay?

Debit, credit card or e-transfer. Your insurer pays its share to us directly.

Still have a question?

Megan answers the phone and texts on weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
