Seasonal changeover
Twice a year, the set on your car changes. We swap it, check it, and can store the other set indoors until next season. Prices and storage terms are below, short and plain.
Book this when
- Fall: daytime highs are dropping below about 7 °C, usually mid-October in Kamloops
- You drive the Coquihalla, Highway 97C or other signed BC routes, where winter tires are required from October 1 to April 30
- Spring: highs stay above about 7 °C, usually mid-April, and you're done with the mountain passes
- You want your off-season set out of the garage and stored for you
What's included
- Swap all four, lug nuts torqued to spec by hand
- Pressures set cold to your door placard
- Tread depth measured and recorded on both sets
- Pressure-sensor warning checked before you leave
- Free re-torque check after 50 to 100 km

The changeover year
When to swap in Kamloops
The 7 °C rule of thumb, the BC highway dates, and the weeks the bays are busiest, on one line.
- Winter set on: typically mid-October to mid-April in Kamloops, when highs sit below about 7 °C.
- Swap weeks: April 1 to May 15 and October 10 to November 30 are our busiest. Every open slot is on the booking page.
- Signed BC highways: winter tires or carried chains required October 1 to April 30.
Storage
The storage terms, in plain words
Seven short rules. This is the whole agreement; nothing else is hiding on the back of the tag.
- 01What a season is
- The time between your two swaps, up to seven months. You pay when you drop the set off.
- 02Where they live
- Indoors, on racks, in our heated warehouse at the shop. Bagged and tagged with your name, plate and wheel positions.
- 03What we record
- Tread depth on every tire and any damage we see, written on the tag. Ask and we'll send photos.
- 04Getting them back
- Book your next swap and we pull the set the day before. Want them back without a swap? Give us one business day.
- 05If you sell the car
- Tell us. We can hand the set to you, transfer it to the new owner's name, or recycle it for $5 a tire.
- 06If we can't reach you
- A set unclaimed for a full year after its season ends gets a mailed final notice, then 60 days, then recycling.
- 07What's covered
- Our insurance covers stored sets against fire and theft. Normal rubber aging isn't something anyone can insure.

Questions about changeover
When should I book?
Whenever suits you. Booking is open year round and we show every open slot. Saturdays go first in late October and mid-April; weekday early slots at 7:00 a.m. are the easiest to get.
What happens if I forget to pick up my stored tires?
They stay safe on the rack. If we can't reach you for a full year after your season ends, we mail a final notice and wait 60 days before recycling the set.
