Read your sidewall. See prices for that size.

Changing sizes?

Compare two sizes

Going to a different wheel or a taller tire? Keep the overall diameter within about 3% of the original so your speedometer, ABS and stability control still read true.

DOT date code

How old are your tires?

Find the letters DOT on the sidewall. The last four digits after it, often in an oval, are the week and year the tire was made: 2321 means week 23 of 2021.

Rubber hardens with age even when the tread looks fine. We flag tires over six years old and recommend replacing any tire at ten, whatever the tread says.

Tread depth

What the numbers on your receipt mean

We measure tread at three points on every tire, every visit, and write it down. Here's how to read it.

Tread depth in 32nds of an inch and in millimetres (mm), with what each depth means
Inches mm What it means
10/32 8 New tire
6/32 4.8 Winter grip starts to fall off
5/32 4 Plan winter replacements now
4.4/32 3.5 BC minimum for winter tires on signed highways
4/32 3.2 Replace all-seasons before the wet season
2/32 1.6 Worn out: level with the tread-wear bars
