Self-defence, without the fear pitch
A rolling six-week cycle taught by our women coaches: awareness, voice, escapes, and simple techniques that work under stress.
How the cycle works
This is not a fitness class with punching, and it is not fear dressed up as empowerment. Each six-week cycle covers awareness and de-escalation first, then breakaways, grips, and ground escapes drawn from jiu-jitsu — practised on padded partners at your pace. Taught by Priya and Mira; join at the start of any week in the cycle.
On the schedule
- Tue 7:30 p.m. with Coach Priya
- Sat 10:00 a.m. with Coach Mira
Women's Self-Defence — 6-week cycle: $129. Two classes a week for six weeks. Included free with Adult Unlimited.
The curriculum
Six weeks, plainly listed
Join at the start of any week — each stands alone, then builds. Joining late? We pro-rate and carry you into the next cycle so you get all six.
-
Week 1
Awareness & voice
Reading situations early, setting boundaries out loud, and the posture that ends most encounters before they start.
-
Week 2
Grips & wrist escapes
Breaking grabs on wrists, arms, and clothing — leverage over strength, drilled until it's reflex.
-
Week 3
Holds & bear hugs
Escaping holds from behind and the side, with the framing and base that make size matter less.
-
Week 4
The ground, part one
Falling without injury, protecting your head, and standing back up safely — the skill people avoid practising most and need first.
-
Week 5
The ground, part two
Escapes from pins drawn straight from jiu-jitsu, practised on padded partners at your pace.
-
Week 6
Pressure & putting it together
Scenario practice at the intensity you choose, plus the honest talk: what training can and cannot promise.
How we hold this room
Three commitments
No fear marketing
We won't recite crime statistics at you or sell dread. You have your reasons for being here; our job is skills, not scares.
Women coaches, women-only room
Every cycle is taught by Priya and Mira. Padded male training partners join only in week six, only with the room's consent.
Honest about limits
Six weeks builds real, practised responses — it does not make anyone invincible, and we will never claim otherwise. Many graduates continue into BJJ or kickboxing; none are pushed to.
The only offer we run
Sit in on a class free, before you commit to the cycle.
Come watch or join at your pace — the first class costs nothing, and Priya will walk you through exactly what the six weeks do and don't promise.
