First, the right diagnosis.

A suspected broken bone needs an X-ray, a good splint or cast, and an orthopedic plan. Our urgent care does all three in one stop, most days, without an ER bill.

Many fractures heal well in a cast, splint or boot. Some heal better with surgery to line the bones up. We show you the X-ray and explain why we recommend one or the other.

What we treat

Your options, side by side.

MOVE ยท INJECT

Cast, splint or boot

  • Casting and splinting Fitted by our team, with care instructions you can keep.
  • Walking boots and braces For stable foot and ankle fractures.
  • Follow-up X-rays To check the bones stay lined up while they heal.
  • Hand and wrist therapy To get motion and grip back after the cast comes off.

REPAIR

With surgery

  • Plates and screws To hold bones in line when a cast cannot.
  • Pins Common for some wrist and hand fractures.
  • Outpatient surgery Most fracture surgery is done the same day you go home.
  • Timing Usually within a week or two, once the swelling allows.

When surgery comes up

Surgery is recommended when the bone pieces have shifted out of line, the break goes into a joint surface, or a cast is unlikely to hold it. If the X-ray is borderline, we explain both choices and what each one asks of you.

Recovery, in ranges.

These are typical ranges, not promises. We narrow yours at every visit as we see how you heal.

  • Wrist fracture, in a cast or splint 4 to 8 weeks
  • Wrist fracture, grip and full use 3 to 6 months
  • Stable ankle fracture, in a boot 6 to 10 weeks
  • Ankle fracture with surgery, normal walking 10 to 16 weeks
  • Collarbone fracture, back to sport 2 to 4 months

Bones in children often heal faster. Smoking, diabetes and some medicines can slow healing. General ranges from published guidance, shown on a stretched time scale. They are not a promise about your recovery.

Who you may see

Questions.

Should I go to the ER or to your urgent care?

Go to the ER for bone through the skin, a limb that looks badly out of place, a cold or numb hand or foot, a head, neck or back injury, or a hip injury in an older adult. For most other sprains and suspected simple fractures, walk in to us.

I was seen at the ER. What now?

Call us or book online and bring your discharge papers. We can usually see ER follow-ups within a few days.

Can kids be seen at ortho urgent care?

Yes. We see children and teens with sprains and suspected fractures every day.
