Stump grinding
Stumps ground below the grass line, chips raked out or left for mulch. Utility lines marked before we start.
How we do it
A stump grinder chews the stump and its top roots into chips, usually six to ten inches below the soil. After that you can seed, sod or plant over it.
Before any grinding we request a utility locate through 811, the free call-before-you-dig service, so gas, water and cable lines are marked. It adds a few days. It is not optional with us.
Want the hole filled? We rake out the chips, add topsoil, and leave it ready for seed. Want the chips? We leave them for your beds.

Straight talk
Stumps on steep slopes, behind narrow gates (our grinder needs about 36 inches) or tight against a foundation take longer. We'll measure on site and price it before the grinder starts.
"Four old stumps gone in one morning. They had the utility lines marked before they came, raked the chips out and left topsoil. Grass is growing already."
