Tall Order Tree Co.
A large tree torn out by its roots in a storm, lying across the front lawn of a white house beside the street

Storm response

Storm hit? Here's the plan.

Four steps to take right now, who we help first, and how we price storm work. Same price book, any weather.

Right now: four steps

  1. Step 1: Get clear

Move everyone out of rooms under the tree. Don't go up on the roof or try to cut anything yourself.

  2. Step 2: Stay off the lines

Assume every downed wire is live. Stay at least 35 feet away and call the power company, or 911 if anyone is in danger.

  3. Step 3: Take photos

Shoot the tree, the damage and the inside of the house from a safe spot. Your insurer will want them.

  4. Step 4: Call the storm line

A person answers day and night. You'll get an honest arrival window and what to expect when we get there.

Who we help first

After a big storm the phone rings nonstop. We work in order of danger, not in order of who offers more.

  1. First

    People and homes

Trees on occupied homes, anyone trapped or a hole letting rain in.

  2. Next

    The only way out

Trees blocking the only driveway or road, or a medical need in the house.

  3. Then

    Cars, garages and sheds

Weight on vehicles and outbuildings, hanging limbs over walkways.

  4. Last

    Yards and cleanup

Down trees in open yards and debris. Booked as soon as the urgent list is clear.

Fair storm pricing

  • The same price book as any other day
  • Nights, weekends and holidays add a posted 25 percent, nothing more
  • Nothing to sign while a tree is still on your roof
  • Before, during and after photos for your insurance claim
  • An itemized invoice your adjuster can read in a minute

Spot a storm chaser

After storms, crews from out of town knock on doors. Some are fine. Be careful if someone:

  • Asks for cash or a large deposit before any work
  • Can't show insurance from an agent, only a photo of a card
  • Wants you to sign over your insurance claim on the spot
  • Shows up uninvited with out-of-state plates and no local address
  • Quotes a price on the doorstep without looking up at the tree

Before the next storm

  • Check before the season

A spring health check spots cracked limbs and weak unions before the summer storms find them.

  • Clear the roof

Limbs over the roof are the ones that cause the biggest claims. A clearance trim is one of our cheapest jobs.

  • Save our number

Put the storm line in your phone now. After a big storm, cell service gets busy and searches get slow.
