About us
A dog school built on little wins
We started with one worried dog, one patient owner and a lot of 6 a.m. walks. Today we help hundreds of Halifax families a year, and we still celebrate every small step.
Our story
In 2015, Jess Comeau adopted Pickle, a shepherd mix who barked at every dog on the street. The advice she got was mostly harsh, and none of it helped. So she learned reward-based training, one little win at a time.
Friends started asking for help. Then their friends did. Jess began teaching small Saturday classes in a church hall in the North End, with folding chairs and a borrowed mat.
In 2019 we moved into our own space on Gottingen Street: a bright main hall with soft floors, a fenced yard and a quiet room for nervous dogs. Five trainers and more than 2,400 graduates later, the idea is the same. Kind methods, small groups and real coaching.
What we stand for
-
Kind methods only
We teach with food, toys, play and praise. No prong, choke or shock collars, ever. Dogs learn faster when they feel safe.
-
Small groups, real coaching
Six dogs per class, two trainers in the room. You get hands-on help every week, not a lecture from the front.
-
Homework that fits real life
Each week ends with three short games you can do in five minutes a day. Little wins add up to big changes.
-
Honest about results
Dogs are not machines. We promise a clear plan and real support, never a magic fix, and we tell you if another program, or your vet, is the better next step.
-
Every family welcome
First-time owners, rescue families, kids, seniors and dogs of every size and shape. Nobody gets judged for a dog who ate the treat bag.
