Getting started
How do I know which program is right for my dog?
Use the program matcher. It asks five quick questions and suggests a program. If you are still not sure, call us for a free 15-minute chat and we will help you choose.
How old does my puppy need to be?
Puppy Kindergarten is for puppies 8 to 20 weeks old on the first day. Basic Obedience starts at 5 months. Private lessons and virtual coaching work at any age.
Classes
What vaccines does my dog need for group classes?
Puppies need their first set of vaccines at least 7 days before class. Adult dogs need current rabies and DHPP vaccines. We recommend the kennel cough vaccine too. Ask your vet if you are not sure.
My dog barks at other dogs. Can we join a group class?
Not as a first step. Busy rooms are hard on reactive dogs. Start with the Reactive Dog Program, and when your dog is ready, Calm Walkers is a small group built for dogs like yours.
What if I miss a class?
You can join a make-up session in another class that week, or we send you a short video recap and the homework card.
What should I bring to class?
Soft, pea-sized treats, a flat collar or harness, a 6-foot leash and a small mat or towel. Please skip retractable leashes in class.
Methods
What training methods do you use?
Positive reinforcement. We reward the choices we want to see with food, toys, play and praise. We never use prong, choke or shock collars, and we never use force.
Will my dog only listen when I have treats?
No. Treats help your dog learn fast at the start. Then we teach you how to fade them and use everyday rewards like walks, play and sniff breaks.
Do you guarantee results?
No honest trainer can guarantee how a living animal will behave. We do promise a clear plan, real coaching and support between sessions. Most families see clear progress within a few weeks of steady practice.
Money
Can I get a refund if plans change?
Group classes are fully refundable up to 7 days before the first class. After that, we give a credit you can use for any program within a year.
Do you offer payment plans?
Yes, for board and train. You pay a deposit to book the dates and the rest at pick-up. Group classes and packages are paid when you enrol.
Are prices plus tax?
Yes, HST is added to all prices. The price you see on our site is the price you pay before tax, with no booking fees.
