FAQ
Questions, answered plainly
If your question isn't here, call or text. Noemi replies between clients, usually the same day.
Your first visit
What happens at a first visit?
You fill a short intake form online. When you arrive, Noemi goes over it with you, looks at your skin under the magnifying lamp, and tells you what she sees. Then your treatment, adjusted to what she found, and written skin notes by email the same day.
Do I need a consultation first?
Not for facials, dermaplaning, acne facials, or brow shaping. Microneedling needs a free 15-minute consult first. A first peel, any tint, lamination, or lash lift needs a free patch test at least 48 hours before.
How should I get ready?
Stop retinoids and exfoliating acids 5 to 7 days before a peel, dermaplaning, microneedling, or waxing. Skip sunbathing for two weeks before a peel. Come as you are; we remove makeup. Bring a list of any medication you take.
Where do I park?
Free street parking on Bull St and 41st St. The building has a step-free entrance and an elevator to Suite 4.
Treatments and safety
Are you a medical spa?
No. Loupe is an esthetics studio run by a licensed esthetician. We don't do injectables, lasers, or anything that needs a prescription, and we don't diagnose skin conditions. When something needs a doctor, we say so.
Why do you ask about my medication?
Some medicines change how skin reacts. Isotretinoin (Accutane), retinoids, blood thinners, and some antibiotics can make exfoliation, waxing, or needling unsafe for a while. Your intake form lets us plan around them.
Can I have treatments while pregnant?
Gentle facials, yes. We don't do salicylic peels or microneedling during pregnancy or while breastfeeding, and we'll talk through lash lifts and lamination first. When in doubt, ask your doctor and we'll follow their advice.
Do you work with deeper skin tones?
Yes, and carefully. Deeper skin can develop dark marks after irritation, so we patch test, start with gentler acids like mandelic or lactic, and space sessions further apart. Dermaplaning and shallow microneedling suit all skin tones.
What if you see a mole or spot that worries you?
We'll point it out kindly and suggest you see a dermatologist. We never treat, remove, or diagnose moles or growths.
How do you keep tools clean?
Blades, needle cartridges, and lancets are single-use and opened in front of you. Metal tools are cleaned and sterilized in sealed pouches. Fresh linens for every client, and every surface is disinfected between visits.
Booking and policies
What is your cancellation policy?
Cancel or move at least 24 hours ahead and there's no charge. Inside 24 hours, half the service price. A no-show is the full price. We waive one late cancel a year, no questions asked.
Do you take a deposit?
New clients pay a $25 deposit when booking. It comes off your bill on the day.
Do you sell gift cards?
Yes, any amount from $25, by email or printed. They never expire.
Do I need to tip?
Tips are welcome and never expected. Our prices are set so that you don't have to.
Skin and home care
Do I have to buy products?
No. We stock a small shelf of professional products, and you're welcome to ignore it. Your skin notes name the type of product you need so you can buy it anywhere.
How often should I come in?
For facials, every 4 to 6 weeks. Acne plans start every 2 weeks. Peel and microneedling series have their own spacing. We'll suggest a date, but it's your call.
What SPF should I use?
The one you'll actually wear every morning: broad spectrum, SPF 30 or higher, reapplied when you're outdoors. It does more for dark marks and fine lines than anything on our menu.
