  1. Fine facial hair and dead surface cells lift away.

  3. Your skin is held taut so the blade glides and never digs.

How Noemi approaches it

Dermaplaning is manual exfoliation. Noemi holds your skin taut and moves a single-use sterile blade in short, light strokes at about 45 degrees. It removes the soft, fine hair on your face (vellus hair, or peach fuzz) and a thin layer of dead skin with it. Your skin feels smooth right away, makeup sits flatter, and serums go on more evenly. We work around active breakouts, never over them.

What it can do

  • Removes peach fuzz and dead surface cells
  • Helps makeup sit smoother and flatter
  • Helps serums and moisturizer spread evenly

What it can't do

  • Change how hair grows: fine hair grows back the same, in about 3 to 4 weeks
  • Treat active acne: we skip any area with breakouts
  • Remove darker, coarse hair (that is waxing or laser, and we don't do laser)

Safety first

Not today if...

These are the reasons we'd pause, change the treatment, or ask you to check with your doctor first. Your intake form asks about each one, so nothing gets missed.

  • Active breakouts, especially sore or pus-filled spots
  • Isotretinoin (Accutane) in the last 6 months
  • Retinoids in the last 5 to 7 days
  • A sunburn
  • Blood thinners: tell us first and we'll go gently

How the appointment goes

Times are a guide. You can ask questions, pause, or say stop at any point.

  1. 0 to 10 min

    Cleanse and dry

Skin has to be clean and completely dry for the blade to glide safely.

  2. 10 to 30 min

    Dermaplane

A new sterile blade, opened in front of you. Short, light strokes with your skin held taut.

  3. 30 to 40 min

    Hydrating mask

Freshly exfoliated skin drinks this up.

  4. 40 to 45 min

    SPF

Moisturizer and SPF. The blade goes straight into the sharps container.

The days after

  1. Same day

Very smooth, maybe a little pink for an hour.

  2. Next 48 hours

No acids, retinoids, or scrubs. SPF every morning.

  3. Weeks 3 to 4

Fine hair returns as soft as it was. Rebook if you liked the feel.

Anything that feels wrong, like blisters, swelling, or pain that grows instead of fading? Text Noemi the same day, and see a doctor if it's severe.

Questions people ask

All FAQs
Will my hair grow back darker or thicker?

No. Cutting a hair does not change the follicle. Fine facial hair grows back fine and soft. It can feel a little blunt as it grows, the same way any trimmed hair does.

Can I dermaplane at home?

Lots of people do. Use a clean, sharp blade, never on breakouts, and go gentler than you think. In the studio you get a sterile blade and a trained hand.

Is it good for sensitive skin?

Often, yes, because there is no acid involved. If your skin is red and reactive right now, we'd start with a Barrier Calm Facial first.
