  1. Superficial peel (lactic, mandelic, salicylic): the outer layer only. This is what we do.
  2. Medium peel (for example TCA): reaches the upper dermis. A medical procedure, done by a physician.
  3. Deep peel (phenol): reaches the deeper dermis. A medical procedure, done by a physician.

How Noemi approaches it

We only do superficial peels: lactic, mandelic, and salicylic acids that work on the outer layer of skin. They are applied in thin layers, timed, and removed or neutralized before your skin is pushed too far. For deeper skin tones we start with mandelic at a low strength and space sessions out, because inflamed skin can leave dark marks behind. Medium and deep peels are medical procedures, and we refer those out.

Patch test first. First peel? We do a free 10-minute patch test at least 48 hours before, on a small patch of skin near your jaw.

What it can do

  • Smooths rough texture and clogged pores
  • Softens the look of dark marks over a series
  • Brightens dull skin
  • Helps breakout-prone skin stay clearer (salicylic)

What it can't do

  • Medium or deep peels (TCA, phenol): those are medical procedures done by a physician
  • Remove deep acne scars
  • Fix melasma for good: it can return with sun and hormones

Safety first

Not today if...

These are the reasons we'd pause, change the treatment, or ask you to check with your doctor first. Your intake form asks about each one, so nothing gets missed.

  • Pregnant or breastfeeding: we skip salicylic and ask your doctor about lactic
  • Retinoids or exfoliating acids in the last 5 to 7 days
  • Isotretinoin (Accutane) in the last 6 months
  • A sunburn, a fresh tan, or a beach trip in the next 2 weeks
  • An active cold sore
  • Waxing, laser, or microneedling on the face in the last 7 days
  • An aspirin allergy (salicylic peel only)

How the appointment goes

Times are a guide. You can ask questions, pause, or say stop at any point.

  1. 48 hours before

    Patch test

A tiny amount of the peel on skin near your jaw. If nothing flares, you are good to go.

  2. 0 to 10 min

    Cleanse and prep

We remove every trace of oil so the peel goes on evenly.

  3. 10 to 15 min

    Protect

A barrier balm goes on the corners of your nose, eyes, and lips.

  4. 15 to 30 min

    Apply and time

Thin layers with a fan brush. Warmth and tingling are normal; we watch your skin the whole time.

  5. 30 to 40 min

    Neutralize and calm

The peel comes off, a cool calming mask goes on.

  6. 40 to 45 min

    SPF and aftercare

Moisturizer, SPF, and a printed aftercare sheet for the week.

The days after

  1. Day 0

Warm and a little pink for a few hours.

  2. Days 1 to 2

Feels tight, like a mild windburn. Moisturize more than usual.

  3. Days 3 to 5

Light flaking. Don't pick or peel it, however tempting.

  4. Day 7

Smoother and brighter. Back to your usual routine.

Questions people ask

All FAQs
Will my face actually peel?

With superficial peels, usually only lightly, around days 3 to 5. Some people barely flake at all. How much you flake does not decide how well it worked.

When is the best time of year for peels?

October to March in Savannah. Less sun means less risk of dark marks while your skin is fresh. We still ask for SPF every single morning.

Can I book a peel before an event?

Give it at least 7 days, and 10 for your first peel. We'll happily say no to a peel two days before a wedding.

Ready to book peels?

Book online and we'll set up your free patch test or consult first. The intake form takes about five minutes.

Rather talk first? Call or text (912) 555-0148. Noemi replies between clients.
