Interiors & millwork

Selections made calmly and on time, and the cabinetry, stairs and paneling built by our own carpenters.

The work

What this means in practice

Every Hartwell home includes Sofia Reyes's selections calendar. It turns a thousand decisions into a calm sequence: tile before drywall, lighting before framing, hardware before doors are hung. You choose with real prices in front of you, and the site never waits on a decision.

Our carpentry crew builds what most builders order from a catalog: kitchens, libraries, stairs, built-ins and paneling. In winter the crew moves into the shop. Hollis Farmhouse's white-oak cabinetry was built that way, from one lift of lumber, designed to the wood we had already bought.

Part of every Hartwell custom home and renovation. We don't offer it on its own: the shop's calendar belongs to our own projects.

The money, plainly

How the money works, before you sign.

  1. Interior architecture is part of the design fee. Furniture and decor are not, and we will say so before you sign.

  2. Selections are priced as you make them, so allowances match real quotes by 90% documents.

  3. Millwork is priced from shop drawings, not from a placeholder number.

  4. A selection changed after its deadline is priced as a change order and signed before we reorder anything.

Questions

Asked about interiors & millwork

All questions and answers

Do we need our own interior designer?

You don't need one, but you are welcome to bring one. Our selections lead covers finishes, fixtures, lighting and built-ins. A decorator for furniture and art works alongside us easily.

How many decisions will we have to make?

Hundreds, spread across months. The calendar groups them into short sessions with clear deadlines, so you are never choosing tile in a hurry on a Friday afternoon.

Begin

Begin with ninety honest minutes.

The first meeting costs nothing and commits you to nothing: your brief, real per-square-foot numbers said out loud, and a frank answer about fit in both directions. We take on 8 homes a year, so the conversation is the whole first step.
