The space
Built for unhurried practice
A storefront on Roncesvalles Avenue that used to be a bookbindery — which explains the light, the quiet, and possibly the temperament.
Stop 1 of 4
The reformer room
Eight reformers with towers, spaced like we mean it — over a metre between carriages, because nobody practises well inside someone else's breathing room. Cork floor, lime-washed walls, and morning light from the east windows that regulars schedule around.
Stop 2 of 4
The green wall & mat room
A smaller second room with a living plant wall, used for private sessions, mat work, and the workshops we run a few times a season. It's the quietest room in a quiet building — pin-drop territory.
Stop 3 of 4
Arrival & the slow lobby
No turnstile, no protein display. A bench, hooks, filtered water, and shelves for your things. We ask everyone to arrive ten minutes early not for policy reasons but because starting unhurried is half the practice.
Stop 4 of 4
The barre corner
One wall of the mat room keeps a ballet barre — a nod to the lineage and a genuinely useful tool for standing work, balance drills, and the alignment sequences some privates are built around.
The practicalities
What to know before you arrive
- Grip socks required — bring yours or buy a pair at the desk ($6)
- Filtered water station — bring a bottle, we stopped selling plastic in 2022
- Two change rooms with lockers (bring nothing valuable; bring even less)
- Mats, props, and all equipment provided and cleaned between classes
- Washroom accessible, and the studio is one level, no stairs
- Fragrance-free space — strong scents carry in a quiet room
