FAQ
Questions we hear every week
Short, plain answers. If yours is not here, call or text us. There is no such thing as a silly question about your teeth.
Getting started
Is the first consultation really free?
Yes. The exam, photos, 3D scan and written plan with the price cost nothing, and there is no pressure to start that day. Most consults take 45 to 60 minutes.
Do I need a referral from my dentist?
No. You can book directly. If you have a dentist, we send them a copy of your plan with your permission.
When should my child have a first check?
Around age 7 is a good time for a first look. Most kids at that age just go on our free watch list with a yearly check.
What should we bring to the consult?
Your insurance card if you have one, and a list of questions. For a child, a parent or guardian needs to come along.
Cost and insurance
How much do braces cost?
Full metal braces here typically run $4,800 to $6,800, and clear aligners typically run $5,200 to $7,600 for a full case. Your exact fee is written down at the free consult.
Do you offer payment plans?
Yes. In-house plans at 0% interest, with down payments from $250 and terms of 12 to 24 months. Pay in full and take 5% off.
Do you take my insurance?
We work with most dental plans that include an orthodontic benefit and file the claims for you. We check your benefits before the consult so you see real numbers.
Can I use my FSA or HSA?
Usually, yes. Orthodontic treatment is typically an eligible expense. Many families use those funds for the down payment.
During treatment
How long will treatment take?
It depends on the bite. Braces usually take 18 to 30 months for a full case. Minor aligner cases can be 6 to 12 months. We give you a range at the consult and update it as you go.
What if a bracket breaks or a wire pokes?
Put orthodontic wax on it and call us. Most fixes are quick and are included in your fee. If it happens after hours, the voicemail gives our on-call number.
Can my teen play sports or an instrument?
Yes. Wear a mouthguard for contact sports; we give the first one free. Brass and woodwind players adjust within a week or two.
After treatment
Will my teeth stay straight?
Teeth can shift at any age. Wearing retainers as directed is what keeps them in place, which is why the first set and first-year checks are included.
What does a replacement retainer cost?
A clear replacement is typically $175 to $325 per arch. A bonded wire retainer is typically $300 to $500 per arch.
Wire poking right now?
Push it flat with a pencil eraser or cover it with orthodontic wax, then call us. For injuries to the face or mouth, go to urgent care or the emergency room.
