What would a month look like?

Orthodontic benefits work differently from cleanings and fillings. Rosa, our treatment coordinator, checks your plan before the consult, so the estimate you see already counts what insurance is likely to pay.
-
Orthodontic coverage is its own benefit
Many dental plans include an orthodontic benefit with a lifetime maximum, often somewhere around $1,000 to $2,500 per person. Some plans have none. Your card will not tell you, so we check.
-
It usually pays a share, up to the max
A common setup pays about half the fee until the lifetime maximum is reached. The rest is yours, and that is what the monthly plan covers.
-
Age limits are common
Lots of plans cover orthodontics only for patients under 19. Adult coverage exists, but it is less common.
-
Insurance often pays over time
Plans often pay part at the start and the rest in monthly or quarterly amounts. We set your plan up so the timing works out.
-
FSA and HSA dollars work
Orthodontic treatment is usually an eligible expense for flexible spending and health savings accounts. Many families use them for the down payment.
-
Two plans can stack
If a child is covered by both parents' plans, the second plan may pay part of what the first does not. We coordinate both.
