About Sanctum

Therapy doesn't have a demand problem. It has a distribution problem.

Millions of people decide, bravely, to talk to someone — then hit voicemails, waitlists, and "not accepting new patients." Most give up within two weeks. Sanctum exists to make the distance between deciding and talking about one day long.

What we believe

Four things we refuse to compromise

01

Meet people where they are

Literally. On phones, at midnight, mid-commute, camera off. The best therapy is the one that actually happens, so we remove every excuse we can — starting with our own friction.

02

No stigma, no jargon, no couch clichés

You'll never see 'broken' or 'fixed' in our product. People aren't tickets to resolve. Plain language in the app, in our emails, and in this sentence.

03

Therapists are the product

Not engagement metrics. We pay therapists properly, protect their caseloads, and never grade them on message speed. Cared-for therapists do better work — that's the whole business model.

04

Honest about our edges

Sanctum is not for emergencies or every condition, and we say so on the pages where it matters — not buried in terms nobody reads. Trust is a feature.

Clinical standards

Who gets to be a Sanctum therapist

"Large network" means nothing if the bar is low. Ours isn't. Every therapist on the platform clears the same six requirements — no exceptions for growth targets.

  • Active, verified state license (LCSW, LMFT, LPC, LMHC, PhD/PsyD, or equivalent), re-verified on a rolling basis
  • Minimum three years of post-licensure clinical experience
  • Structured interview + reviewed sample session notes before joining
  • Telehealth-specific onboarding: presence, pacing, and safety protocols for remote care
  • Ongoing peer consultation groups and a clinical support line for tough cases
  • Capped caseloads — therapists set their own limits, and we enforce them downward, never upward

The team

People who've sat on both sides of the screen

Amelia Voss

Co-founder & CEO

Spent two years on a therapy waitlist in her twenties; started Sanctum so nobody else has to. Previously built care-navigation tools in digital health.

Dr. Lena Achebe

Co-founder & Chief Clinical Officer

Licensed psychologist and former clinic director. Owns Sanctum's clinical standards: who joins the network, how matching works, and where the platform says 'we're not the right fit.'

Tom Okonkwo

Chief Technology Officer

Builds the boring things that matter: encryption, uptime, and an app that stays out of the way of two humans talking.
